Do you want to read a book that can take you deeper into Lent and Easter and what it means?  This is one that definitely contains food for thought...

Lent is fitting time for daily reading and reflection.  If your eyes get tired easily reading things online and you have denied yourself the pleasure of the Amazon Kindle, I recommend this book in its paper form.  (It's amazing that we are in a day and age where paper books might become obsolete!) It can be used as a devotional for Lent and Easter or it can be dipped into at your leisure.

Have you ever had a meal where each dish was an improvement over the last but each dish was exquisite in itself?  This book is similar to that kind of meal.

There is an amazing array of authors, classic and contemporary, that will whet your apperire for more each time you open the book.

The book is organized into sections that form a progression.  Invitation prepares you for Easter by examining yourself and then the book moves through the themes of temptation, passion, crucifixion, resurrection, and new life.

The beauty of the book is the variety of perspectives represented in the reading.  Each one will reward a thoughtful reader in different ways.  I would also like to emphasize that these are not shallow 'inspirational' writings.  I will say, there isn't a dull entry out of the 72 authors that are included.

Are you interested in who is included and a few of the quotes?

"If the ultimate, the hardest, cannot be asked of me; if my fellows hesitate to ask it and turn to someone else, then know nothing of Calvary love." Amy Carmichael

"The essence of sin is man substituting himself for God, while the essence of salvation is God substituting himself for man." John Stott

"A follower is or strives to be what he admires.  An admirer, however, keeps himself personally detached." Soren Kierkegaard

Other authors include C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, Philip Yancey, Frederick Buechner, Henri Nouwen, and Dorothy Day.  Go ahead and sit down to this exquisite meal.
