As summer starts, I am reminded of a book I finished last summer while pregnant with Jordan, my third son. It isn't a heavy book but it's very thoughtful, and it's an easy read.

The Divine Romance starts in the Garden of Eden and finishes at the consummation of the ages. It asks some excellent questions along the way. Who is fit to be the bride of God? How should the Carpenter, rising from the dad, bring her forth? It is a work of fiction that tells the story of Bible from God's perspective. God is a God of love who wants a personal, life changing relationship with us. In short, He wants a relationship with us, despite the fact that we are fallen creatures. I am going to give a little preview to whet your appetite. "He was alone. The first tick of time had never sounded, nor had the unending circle of eternity yet commenced. There were neither things created nor things uncreated to share space with Him. He dwelt in an age before the eternals, where all there was...was God. Nor was there space for anything else. He was the uncreated. He was the All. In this non-time of so long ago, there was but one life form...the highest life. He was also love. Passionate, emotional, expressive...love. In this God, dwelling so all alone, there was a paradox; though he was alone, he was also love. Yet there was no counterpart for him to love. A love so fast, so powerful, yet, there was no 'other than'. Read the book and imagine more fully how deeply you are
