Happy Advent everyone! I hope you reading and reflecting on Christ as we wait for Christmas! Now on to the fun stuff...
The boys and I joined a Thanksgiving/potluck event for expats in Jochiwon and had a blast at the end of November. The only requirement for the event was to bring a dish or two. We brought salad and apple pie.
The fun part started after the dinner when the boys pulled out their Korean HallyGally game and invited people to play. There were a number of teachers who sat down with the boys turning cards over and hitting the bell whenever they saw a pair. There was general excitement and cafuffle like in any game.
The other not so fun highlight from that night was the broken bottle of olive oil that spilt all over the floor. Justin was not being careful with the bowls and spoons in typical teenager style and, accidently, pushed the bottle off the table with an amazing shattering of glass all over the place. It took us a good fifteen minutes to figure out where to find the broom and dustpan and clothes to wipe the floor with.
I have to mention that the food everyone brought was great. There were a number of amazing dishes and desserts, including a few pies. Justin tried pumpkin pie for the first time in his life. I was not completely surprised to see the disgusted look on his face when he took his first bite. "Here Mom! You eat it!"
In December we pulled out all the Christmas books, and the kids were delighted with one book in particular. Pete the Cat Saves Christmas has been read probably a dozen times with loud declarations of "Give it Your All" in chorus from the Jordan and Aidan.
